Although theoretically, Wellbutrin (Zyban) may increase Dopamine by preventing it's reuptake (reabsorption/removal) - the many benefits can be outweighed by it's ''off-points'' - which is why it isn't my recommendation of Choice.

It's still a better choice than many other anti-depressants though, for Depression , and especially effective at treating Seasonal Episodes of Depression. It has also been reported to be useful in treating both idiopathic (unknown cause) and drug-induced (such as SSRI or antihistamine) Anhedonia (lack of pleasure and emotions).

Wellbutrin's defects come from what you will see in my article , below. Smile

How do you feel about the claims made in reference to Wellbutrin helping prevent PSSD upon SSRI discontinuation?

I do feel for mild depression Wellbutrin should be used before the application of ANY SSRI, as there is less chance of permanent-adverse effects like an SSRI. If I had taken Wellbutrin before, and not taken an SSRI, I would probably be free from the curse of PSSD and PSSD induced cognitive/memory impairment.

Might be, but there are still better options out there.
Amineptine, Rasagiline, Selegiline, Mianserin are all preferred agents for Depression, especially that combined with anhedonia and / or progressive dysphoria.
